My Story

My name is Casey Donovan. I grew up in Miramichi, NB, and moved to the Yukon in 2018 after graduating from university to start my career as a Pharmacist. My goal was to pay off some student loans, and to learn how to hunt and fish in Canadas north west. The problem was I didn’t have any mentors to show me the ropes, and I had to learn all my lessons the hard way.

In 2020 I started the Yukon Unguided Instagram page as a way of documenting my adventures, and to try to share the things I was learning to try to help anyone else that was getting started. 2 years later the page gained traction and I signed my first pro deal with Cabelas Canada. Since then I’ve been very lucky to collaborate on content and projects with the Yukon Government, Leatherman Canada, and most recently signed on as an ambassador with Vortex Optics.

In May of 2024 I held my first annual fundraiser event in Whitehorse, where we premiered our first sheep hunting film “Live and Let Grow” at the Beringia Theatre. We had guest speakers talk about a variety of conservation based topics, and had 100 people turn up for the event. We managed to raise $1500.00 for the Yukon Fish and Wildlife Enhancement Trust; whose mandate is to fund projects that protect, enhance, and restore Yukons fish, wildlife, and habitats. It’s not much $$… but it’s a start.

My ambition for Yukon Unguided is to grow my social media following so that I can spend more time doing what I love, build a community of passionate hunters and anglers, and try to raise more money for conservation based projects here in the Yukon, and elsewhere in Canada. Our second annual fundraiser film night is scheduled for July 9, 2025 - and I’ll be aiming do raise twice as much money as we did at last years event.

Learning how to hunt and fish on my own in the mountains has been one of the most rewarding challenges of my life. It is my belief that people who share this passion for the outdoors are more motivated to want to protect fish, wildlife and wild spaces. It is my hope that by telling my story, I can inspire more people to connect with the land, and the desire to protect it.

This is the Yukon, and we’re doing it Unguided.

Respect for Wildlife Campaign

We feel incredibly fortunate for the privilege to hunt, fish, and explore the vast landscapes that the Yukon has to offer. In attempt to give back to the beautiful territory that continues to inspire us, we are starting a fundraiser through the sale of our merchandise.

10% of all proceeds from Yukon Unguided merch will be donated directly to conservation initiatives in the Yukon. This year, we’ve got our eyes on donating to the Yukon Fish and Wildlife Enhancement trust; who’s mandate is to protect and enhance Yukons fish, wildlife, and natural habitats.

Why 10%?

We believe that donating 10% of our annual sales will allow for sustainability in business, enabling us to cover our over head cost, and have just enough money left over to be able to re-invest, so that we can give as much money possible back to the territory. We have a life long, vested interest in helping to keep the Yukon territory truly wild, and we hope that you do too.

If you have Respect for Wildlife, want to rep the Yukon Territory, and contribute to a good cause - be sure to check out our shop and pick up one of our premium quality hoodies, or other merchandise.

Thank you for your support.
